2011 Lessons Learned from Those I Love

Mom:  "Just do what's in your heart."  She's always telling me that during hard times.  And I've also learned that no matter how many times you crash and burn in your own screw ups, Moms always love you.

Darren: "You'll never know if you don't try."  I cannot even count how many times he's told me that over the last year.  I've also learned from him that sometimes, people stay.  Sometimes, there are those special ones, that no matter how hard things get, they won't leave.  They just keep standing by you.  And they won't take the easy way out.  They just keep right on loving you no matter how crazy you or circumstances get.

Kurtis: "Never, ever give up!"  Funny, the whole time I've been raising him I always thought it was me trying to teach him that lesson.  I just recently realized it's been him teaching it to me all along.

Paige:  PLAY LOTS!!!  Play every single chance you get.  You are never too old for it, and it's still so much fun!

Meghan:  Just be you.  That little girl has really taught me it's OK to be yourself.  Different is wonderful!  And it should be shared with the world.

Emillie:  Even if you have to wing it, GO FOR IT!  My beautiful sister has zero fear of trying something new or following her dreams.  Even if she has to wing it.

Casey: There is no giving up in Love.  Quitting is just not an option when it comes to those you care about.  You don't give up on them.  You just keep moving forward and loving them as hard as you can.

Tye:  Things are not always what they seem.  Even when you think no one cares about you, there is always someone out there who loves you.  You are always important, even when you think you're not.

I'm so very very blessed to have these people in my life, plus the dozens more that touch my world every day.  I'm taking my very special lessons learned, and jumping head first into 2012 with so much love and gratitude I may make myself throw up.  :)

Happy Holidays Everyone!  Hope yours is as wonderful as mine has been.
